June 2016 - Axis presents at Decom Offshore 2016

Doug Maxwell of Axis Well Technology Limited presented at the recent Decom Offshore 2016 Decommissioning. Reality, Preparation and Action; In a low oil price environment conference and exhibition.  Taking part in the session entitled, Driving Cost Reduction in the planning phase, Doug presented and hosted an expert discussion and Q&A session on Well Abandonment and Cost Reduction. This Decom North Sea (DNS) event at the AECC in Aberdeen sold out with over 400 attendees from operators, major contractors, service specialists and technology developers. With decommissioning expenditure in the North Sea set to increase from the current, 1billion per annum, DNS plays a vital role in solution development and cross sector learning and is helping to build supply-chain capability. DNS works with a number of strategic partners including Oil & Gas UK, the Oil and Gas Authority and DECC to achieve these objectives. Doug's presentation reviewed the major activities and cost associated with UKCS well abandonment based on historical data.  He concluded operational time and rig/vessel rates were the most significant factors in wells costs.  This was followed by an enthusiastic discussion and Q&A on opportunities of how to cut costs in these areas.Alastair Dodds, Axis Engineering Director, said, Axis is increasingly active in decommissioning - providing subsurface, wells and operations support to UKCS operators.  Our late field life expertise and extensive local knowledge provides Axis with an excellent insight into UKCS decommissioning from regulatory and engineering perspectives and allows us to provide innovative, practical solutions.  Doug's presentation highlighted this knowledge.  Axis was delighted to present at this event and looks forward to supporting DNS again in future.
