Central Africa - Fast Track Completions for Gas to Power Generation

Our client's target was to fast track a gas to power generation facility to supply the electrical grid system in Central Africa. Our initial involvement was to lead an assessment of either performing DST's, or running cased hole completions for two (2) wells and undertaking Extended Well Tests (EWT). The licence prospect was situated in a rubber tree plantation, making it extremely environmentally sensitive and given tight timelines on both the project and the requirement to drill the wells, it made for a very challenging project. In order to ensure success, Axis assigned a Project Manager to be situated in the client's office, and additional technical and operational support was provided by the Axis Completions Team as and when the project required.

To achieve successful project delivery, Axis performed planning and installation on two (2) wells along with extended well test operations, with wells being temporarily suspended for handover of the well site back to the operator. Activities included:

Key Outcomes

Completions were successfully installed in both wells followed by EWT operations with all project objectives being met with no serious incidents or injuries. This was a particular success given the second well required a new set of completion equipment and tubulars to be sourced, procured and delivered in country, on a very short turnaround time. The safety and operational achievement was due to the diligence, supervision and management of the Axis team on location.
