Detailed Well Performance Modelling

Axis’ Client was preparing a detailed field development plan for a UKCS heavy oil field.  A key consideration was ESP temperature loss and the potential (positive) impact this would have on the produced fluid viscosity.   Our well modelling experts were requested to develop detailed models that would allow the client to determine the optimum ESP size and setting depth for various development well concepts and sizing.

To achieve this we carried out the following activities,

Detailed data review, including,

• EWT performance
• PVT
• Flow assurance

Develop designs for conceptual oil producers, including,

• ESP pump size
• Well angle
• Multilateral bores
• Mother bore and tubing sizes
• Flow assurance (emulsions)
• Temperature modelling
• Develop engineering workflows to improve modelling of temperature profile between perforations and pump entry
• Prepare BoD documentation
  

Axis’ expertise allowed the client to understand and screen a large number of reservoir and well variables – which the client then used to optimise development well locations, multilateral well types and completion designs.
